Why does quicksort degrade to O(n²)?
It went and foundYour week 4 notes give the case directly: when the pivot is always the smallest or largest element (an already-sorted array with a first-element pivot), each partition removes only one item, so the recursion runs n levels deep instead of log n.
A second model reads every reply against the passages it was built from and scores it. Those scores are not hidden in a log somewhere, they are on a page you can open right now.
